Forums - Sales Discussion - Interesting analysis of holiday numbers using past NPD data

This is a very interesting analysis from Bill Harris on holiday sales using historical data. Based on NPD data, sales of consoles typically increase 250% from October to November and 200% from November to December. If one were to use this historical average, the USA numbers for November would be:

Wii--1,250,000
360--915,000
PS3--302,000

Of course there are other contributing factors, but interesting none the less.

Did you even read the article?

2.5 x 121,000 = 302,500

Read the analysis, forget about the final numbers. It's a great read.

Facts to back this up?

You mean they increase 150% and 100%. As in they get multiplied by 2.5 and then by 2.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

Wow........ did any of you even read what he said before you posted?

Sounds about right, little higher though for this year im guessing

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.
