In its GDC keynote extravaganza, Microsoft confirmed that the first downloadable "episode" for GTA IV will be coming this August, exclusively to Xbox 360.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episode One, as it's being called, is presumably the first in the previously announced two downloadable episodes for Rockstar's sequel. They've been rumoured to have cost Microsoft a fair few pennies.

Microsoft VP John Schappert also confirmed that more than a thousand new games will be released on the Xbox 360 in 2008 and that Grand Theft Auto IV will be one of the biggest. Thanks, but we already knew that.

GTA IV is out on April 29.

Even if we dont know anything about the content or the price, the fac to have the "complete" experience only on Xbox360 AND the fact that this is coming pretty quickly is a VERY good point for MS.

I have both systems, but still may get it for the PS3, for what you may consider to be not so obvious reasons.

But for me, its a no-brainer.

Isn't this five months though...I thought we all pretty much expected a few months delay before the first downloadable content. You seem to think this is fairly soon though, so were you expecting a longer delay?

I expected DLC to come pretty quickly on the Xbox live but Ms stated it will only appear at Xmas suggesting that the real add-on will come later (2009)
and then come this news saying add-on are coming in August
I think MS has used the button "PRESSURE" because I remember R* also said it will come later (09) ...
