Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg Talks CES, Xbox 360 In '09 And Beyond

We caught up with Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE, to chat about the console's presence at CES, the year ahead and the number 17 million.

While Greenberg was appropriately coy about the Xbox 360's upcoming line-up beyond what has been announced — yes, there are more games coming for the thing — he didn't shy away from talking about the numbers war between Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, specifically Sony's claims that it too has 17 million accounts.

Read on for a taste of what Greenberg had to say about Microsoft's plans for the Xbox.

He is right about apples and oranges for PSN numbers and Xbox live numbers. Xbox live is a pay to play service where people pay to be there where psn is a free club that anyone can join because its there. Something you pay for is something you will most likely use to a greater extent.

The released PSN numbers also include PS3, PSP, & Playstation.com accounts used for their forums and the like.  Still there is  fudging on both ends but ultimately it's hard to compare numbers with a pay service vs a free one.

He clearly says that XBL number does not count silver accounts or gold accoutns that have not been live in 6 months. I have like 6 silver accoutns so it makes sense nt counting them.

They won't start talking about their holiday 09 lineup until July.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

"You're an active member on PSN until you create an account. So, essentially forever. It's definitely apples to oranges when you compare those numbers."

how they know that? u need an ps3 to access the account. even if u have many.
