The following is a chart comparing sales of multiplatform software between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. In order to narrow the data down I only included games that scored at least a 85 on metacritic for both systems. The sales numbers were taken from VGchartz as of June 30th 2009.  I'd like to thank "dbot" for the insperation.

Numbers fo "Skate" could not be factored in due to lack of sales for the PS3 numbers from VGchartz. *= brought to system at later date

I would to stress that i did not skew these numbers in any way. These are straight up Statistics. Don't like the facts, then don't read it.

PS3 is pretty good at selling fighting, racing, football and shooter games. In all other genres it quite horribly fails, especially compared to 360 and Wii.

Good list. I would add the attach rate for each console as well. I think both unit sales and the attach rate are good indicators of a title's success by platform. I am glad you had the guts to post this one.

I am scratching my head over the Dead Space numbers, some of my friends claim it is one of the best games this generation. I think I will have to pick it up.

There is 1 major problem with that list, it is FIFA 09 not FIFA Soccer 09.

Also, could we have stars by games that were late on PS3, like RSV, Bioshock & Rock Band 2 (which released without instruments in others) {and Elder Scrolls IV I think} and Virtua Fighter 5 lacks others data on 360. {There are probably more that I can't think of}

It is not perfect, regional breakdowns would help but it is clear that the 360 excels at selling shooters

^^^ i thought Dead Space was a really good game. Scared the Hell out of me a little bit but worth every penny of the $60 purchase

Any reason why those specific games are listed, there must be more multiplatform titles over 85%?
eg Guitar Hero, Fight Night Rd 3, Pure.

No, the only game that is not on the list is skate because of no data.. I too thought i would find guitar hero but none of them scored above a %85 on PS3
