Was the Witcher heavilly advertised in the US by microsoft? That would be interesting to know, cause its kinda weird that similar games albeit set in a different genre like Witcher and Fallout could have such dispariging sales i the US. From my pov in the UK Witcher was primarilly pushed on the PS4 while Fallout has been heavilly advertisex on Xbox. If that was repeated in the US then it explains a lot. Xbox can compete sales wise as long as the US are interested in an IP. Message | Report |

Exclusive advertising isn't worth much. People knew it was multiplat and they bought it on their preferred platform. Fallout 4 is really popular in the US. While Witcher 3 is a modest success in the US. That's the primary reason why Witcher 3 sold significantly better on PS4. Regardless of advertising, Fallout 4 appealed to the X1 audience more than Witcher 3. No amount of advertising could change that. Message | Report |

I don't think the majority of consumers care whether the version is a port, 900p, drops a few frames or so on. It's only us who spend a lot of time on gaming websites who make that fuss. The game was advertised well (atleast here in UK) plenty of ads for it. I blame microsoft for not giving it the 'destiny' treatment. MS didn't really have a retail exclusive for the first 7 /8 months of this year, so withcer should've been treated like a first party project. In this case, it's a testament to how big/great fallout is that it can sell well inspite of not as heavy marketing from xbox and move a few consoles too. Message | Report |

Well remember the lead platform for Witcher 3 is PC, while Xbox is just a port. Xbox is just extra money, not the bread and butter. Also, MS paid for advertising thus making Xbox support even more worthwhile. We dont know what the expectations for Witcher 3 on consoles Xbox was. But I assume it sold well enough to justify the port. Message | Report |
