The next week JAP and NA sales will give us a much better idea. I think the most itll sell in JAP is around 180k, but most likely itll be 150k.

Hopefully the game appeases the hardcore crowd and continues to sell at a steady pace. As ive said, given the UE3, 500k should be more than enough. As we saw with Eternal Sonata, it sold 30k first week in NA, but went onto to garner 190k. So if it does around 150k Japan, 200k NA and then 100k EU, itll be a success though EU is the most worrying

i think this game has been unfairly hammered by the press. Its much better than the reviews and the slow down on the full release is minimal.

I don't think flop. This game is selling pretty good so far. Considering it's budget and how early it is.

2nt and 3d week sales in America will definetly show a lot though about how this will probably do.

@ Gearbox

"all jrpgs so far"

Yawn. Just like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon? Oh wait... Keep dreaming.

Again, as with Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, MS owns the Infinite Undiscovery IP.

Hopefully itll reach 500k, UE3 in this case has paid off.

Even though i never think much of VG girls, but the one with the green eyes is too cute = $

@Aprisaiden

Microsoft owns the IP. There's as much of a chance of a IU PS3 port as there is for a Halo 3 PS3 port.

I wonder how this game will sell in the long run. Anyway i hope it sells okay -- high enough for the devs to consider porting it to PS3 and low enough to make it the right financial choice.

Ohh and the game really gave 360 a massive boost in Japan.

It opens very Very poorly but after the first parts of the game it gets good. I really like it myself but the poor opening, and lack of voice over for some scenes probably made some people give up on it.

That being said this is one of my favorite games for my 360 and I love it.

All the crafting, blacksmithing, etc... and the Bard like effects that you get over time with the flute to dispel magic, show hidden things, etc... really make this very fun for me.

Hope it keeps on selling. Great game. I encourege all Tri Ace fans to give it the time. You know Tri Ace is good for it.

Hm. IU, i had so big hops for you, but after 5-6 hours - im not satisfied. Its alright, pretty much a standard JRPG. I can understand why some sites gave it 7.

Absolutey bad game. Poor, badly dubbed, extremely boring characters.

I am crossing my fingers hoping The Last Remnant and Star Ocean 4 sell better. They probably will since TLR's art style and gameplay will appeal to the 360 crowd and Star Ocean already has a decent enough fanbase in the West

This game is tankeriffic in America/EU, and if it drops off like usual, in Japan it will be "meh" at best.

@ Riachu:

LO looks like a FF game, probably gave it a boost. It also had one of the most awesome opening movies seen in a game which could've contributed.

That said, I though IU would've performed better in its opening week.

Why can LO find a decent audience on the 360 while IU has trouble with finding its audience?

IU was never a "high profile game". It is just a normal game. Its very fun BTW.

@Zucas
IU got a TV commercial in the US yet it only sold 40K? I though marketing was actually suppose to help sales. Also, wasn't IU a high profile release?

Zucas posted 16/09/2008, 12:15
Outside of Japan this seems to be a fail. I mean geez JRPGS aside from FF just don't seem to be doing well outside of Japan lately.

Riachu posted 13/09/2008, 11:52
I expect better sales in the US since IU got a marketing campaign here and not in Europe(from what I know). It's already doing better in Japan.

the game was quite good but it sure was short for a rpg, had it been 10 more hours I would rate it an 8 instead of a 7.

hmm tough to think how well this will do.. It's not a game you can just pick up and play.. you really do need to spend some time with it.. its pretty much one for the hardcore JRPG gamer.
If you can get past the first couple of hours the game really does start to improve.. I hope it does over a million. its very much an RPG on a grand scale.. MMORPG scale!

I've been enjoying it quite a bit. It's probably a 7.5 or an 8 for me. It definitely isn't a big budget Square Enix title but after the first couple of hours it actually became quite fun.

For some reason this game is reminding me of Secret of Mana. I look forward to a new great series of RPG's on the 360.

That is I hope this is the start of that. Everything i've heard and seen of this seems like Tri-Ace has done it again. Plus with the multiple endings, difficulty modes, bonus dungeon i've seen confirmed on some reviews now I think this will have some great legs.

I'm not sure the game will sell well in Europe because it seems to be full english, no subtitles. A lot of people will not buy it if it's not translated.

I predict 80 on metacritic (Well, after some foolish reviews for jrpg on 360, its always some small sites that is non pro and want to clear who they are)

And 940K ww sales.

I predict 85% on gamerankings and atleast 1 million copies sold LTD. I predict that critics will praise the story, innovative battle system, graphics, and sountrack with the only universal complaint being minor(but still tolerable) framerate issues

This game is looking good. Great story, good graphics, but I'm a little worried about the combat system...
But so far I plan on getting both this and Tales of Vesperia. These 2 games will end up right along side my Lost Odyssey, this year is looking pretty good for rpg's.

Ok, go ahead and scratch my previous comment. The game doesn't really get any better when you get deeper in to it. There are some neat ideas in there, but the execution is always poor. Even if it's an old game I just can't let some things fly. Had to rate it low. I hope tri-Ace's other console JRPG's are a lot better than this one, namely Resonance of Fate.

Started playing this game, it's fairly decent for a relatively old X360 JRPG. Not perfect, but it's a lot more fun so far than recent console JRPG's I've played.
