im happy that a game like Halo which actually has alot of effort put in by the developer and great story is selling so well. wish more games like this would sell more and games like COD would sell less!

Call me crazy but I think Halo 3 will sell far more than 12 million.

The 360 should sell maybe 30 million more units within the coming years. That game is a staple and sales should remain strong.

every year theres a new Call of Duty game, so it basically has a year to sell. Halo 3 had 2 years of profiting/ amazing sales with a higher marketing campaign.

@Kyjoe9 - No way. Not near as much hype going around it and I doubt that near as many people will buy it since part of it is essentially Halo 3. It even Has Halo 3 in the title. But it'll probably sell at least four or five million copies in it's life span.

Will sell 10 mill on its 98 week out, congrats Bungie on making a game that doesn't even need a 100 weeks to sell ten million copies on a system that over its lifetime (halo 3) had about an average of only 25 million uberbase.

Ha, 12 mill is guarenteed. This game sells upwards of 500k each christmas. Even if it dips below 20k a week next year it will still get over a million each year. 13 - 15 million is where it will finish.

bundles don't account for many copies. If you want a high number, 1 million. But that isn't saying much since halo 3 will sell beyond 10 million, it isn't going to suddenly stop, although sales will slow because of ODST.
My reasoning for that is because friends of a person would be buying ODST so they would have all of the MP maps. Believe it or not, some people do buy the game because their friends play online.

I think theres a possibility that ODST would boost Halo 3's sell shorty. I remember God of War going back up on the sales charts when God of War 2 came out.
I think ODST will put Halo 3 back in the minds of gamers and help push it a little but after that I bet the sale will take a big dip early next year.

What does sales have to do with game quality? Keeping it 360 only, I think Gears franchise is way better than Halo franchise and Gears 2> Halo 3, but it sold way less. And don't get me started on Wii games.

Does VGC count all versions of this game? Looking back at old NPD data, USA first year is severely under tracked. NPD has it at 4.82 million in the first year, VGC is 4.24 million. Unless VGC put those missing sales in 2008, Halo 3 could already be at 12.5 million.
